The Restoration of the Staple
Our Founder
In a previous life, I didn’t work with dough or peanuts; I worked with cardiac tissue. I spent years earning a PhD learning about how cardiac cells are what you eat. Back then, I could only make the tiniest dent to the largest problems. I love this comic found from Matt (you should see the whole thing), but essentially this a PhD.

MANU is so much more than a small blip. We work locally to empower communities. That’s no small feat.
We believe real food should be normal, not a luxury. Somewhere along the way, the standard for “food” changed. Fillers and chemicals replaced real ingredients. We stopped asking if it was nutritious, and just asked if it was edible. That is backward. Healthy food shouldn’t be hard to find, and toxic food shouldn’t be the default. We are here to change that. We make real food to restore human dignity, and we’re removing the barriers so everyone can access it.
With over 400,000 people in Miami-Dade facing food insecurity, we knew we wanted to be part of the solution. But we also knew our biggest hurdle: making real food accessible. We refused to compromise our ingredients, so we chose to lower our profits instead. Thus, MANU’s Table Initiative was born.
We chose peanut butter because we love it, but it also is a high calorie heart healthy food that pairs with almost anything.
